Roots Illumined
Intensive for Yoga Teachers and Students
With a Focus on Backbends & Inversions
David Hollander, Nikki Lewitan & Shri Radha | August 17-19
Roots Illumined training offers a space for teachers and students of all levels to experience yoga's vedic roots and to refine practical tools that can be used to create more effective and meaningful classes.
This weekend we will concentrate on backbends and inversions, informing and illumining our āsana practice through creative sequencing, alignment cues, advanced hands-on assists and teaching practicums. We will devote morning sessions to proper pronunciation of the āsanas' Sanskrit names to develop confidence and encourage their use. We will also explore select Sanskrit mantras to inspire a deeper connection with yoga's root teachings and traditions.
Yoga finds itself in a unique position today. The teachings of classical yoga offer a peaceful and purposeful alternative to the values and norms generally found in our current society. While the physical practice (asana) is very popular, yet much of the richness and profound insight of yoga is often lost. Our aim is to rekindle a sense of that original light and, with that, to vitalize our own practice and galvanize the tools to share that spark with others.
Roots Illumined is not a cookie-cutter training. Our teachers bring decades of deep study, personal practice and teaching to the classroom. This course is designed to support each individual as he or she develops through application of the classical yoga tradition along with modern scientific rigor..
