Ashtanga Earth Day Yoga Retreat with David Hollander & Kira Svesko

Join David Michael Hollander and Kira Svesko for a weekend of community, practice, and connection to our Mother Earth. Kira and David offer Ashtanga Yoga as a joyous, healing, individualized practice. 

Beginners will develop the tools to grow a lifelong, personal practice, experienced practitioners will have opportunities to expand and strengthen. 

Mornings will be traditional Mysore Style practice including a clinic for beginners. Afternoons will include yoga therapy, discussions on lifelong practice and a Earth Circle Meditation in the beautiful woods of the Ashram.

David (Yogananda) Hollander, 500 RYT, has been teaching yoga since 1994. He has helped to develop teacher training programs at New York Yoga, Yoga Sutra, Pure Yoga and Ananda Ashram. He has been teaching Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga since 2005 in New York City and is currently runs the East Side Mysore Club

David has studied with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, B.N.S Iyengar ( of Mysore) Manju Jois, Nancy Gilgoff and is certified by David Williams as well as the Mysore Mandala in India.  He has been the director of Yoga Teacher Training at Ananda Ashram since 2009 and has spent many years with senior teachers in the lineage.  David is also a classically trained figurative artist who has taught drawing for over a decade.

Kira Svesko has practiced yoga since 2005 and received her teaching certification from Ananda Ashram in 2013. She completed a mentorship in the Mysore room at Pure East Yoga Studio in NYC under David Hollander. More recently, she traveled to India to study with great masters in the Ashtanga lineage. Kira has a BFA in art history and photography from Hunter College and also has a background in accounting. She is very happy to be at Ananda Ashram, in contact with many gifted teachers and the yogic philosophy teachings of Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati, which have profoundly influenced her life.
