Join teachers, David Hollander, Nikki Lewitan and Shri Radha for a weekend that will inform and illumine our asana practice through creative sequencing, alignment cues, advanced hands-on assists and teaching practicums. Concentrated sessions devoted to proper pronunciation of the asanas' Sanskrit names will develop confidence and encourage their use. This weekend will also feature select Sanskrit mantras that evoke shantih (peace) and shivam (tranquility) to elevate our practice and our teaching.
Yoga finds itself in a unique position today. The teachings of classical yoga offer a peaceful, purposeful counterpose to the current social atmosphere. Yet while the physical practice (asana) is very popular, often much of the richness and profound insight has been lost.
Roots Illumined training offers a space for teachers and students of all levels to experience yoga's vedic roots and rituals and to refine practical tools for creating more effective and meaningful classes. This series will inform and illumine our practice with creative sequencing, alignment cues for all types of bodies, advanced hands-on assists, mystical mantras, practical philosophy and sacred teacher-to-student traditions. We will evoke a spark that will vitalize our own practice and galvanize the tools to share that light with others. Roots Illumined is not a cookie cutter training. Our teachers bring decades of deep study, practice and teaching to the table. The course is designed to provide mentoring and support for each individual as we develop our yoga using classical tradition along with modern scientific rigor.
