Tammy Quinn (Vimala), Director of the School of Hatha Yoga

Tammy Quinn (Vimala Devi) is the Director of the School of Hatha Yoga. She began her practice of Yoga in 2008 and quickly realized that Yoga was more than physical exercise. Her love for Yoga led her to take the 200 hour “Life of a Yogi” teacher training with Sri Dharma Mittra in 2011, giving her a solid foundation to build upon. Vimala found Ananda Ashram in 2013 with a passion to continue studying Asana, Yoga-Vedanta Philosophy and Meditation. Vimala has also completed a 300-hour Vinyasa Training and is currently designated as a 500 E-RYT and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider). Vimala accepted the Director position in 2021 and has offered 4 successful Yoga Teacher Trainings since. She was given the name Vimala in 2017 by one of the Ashram’s founding members, the late Joan Suval.

Vimala is also a NY State Licensed Massage Therapist. She studied at The Institiute for Holistic Health in Poughkeepsie, NY. Her Massage Therapy coursework included Anatomy, Physiology, Myology, Kinesiology and Traditional Chinese Medicine, Neurology, Pathology, and Medical Massage. Vimala offers special workshops and classes which incorporate harmonium, mantra chanting, asana (poses) with special attention to proper alignment, pranayama (breathing techniques), dharana (concentration) and the fundamental principles of Yoga.
